Sopheap Brem
Sopheap Brem was our licensed guide on a recent visit to the Angkor area in November, 2011. He is highly recommended in every regard. As with other guides listed here, his command of the region's history, architecture, art, religious traditions, local culture, and English are excellent. What sets him apart is his easy and genial nature, kindness, flexibility, and attention to detail. Sopheap anticipated and accommodated needs for pacing, made excellent suggestions for the use of time, and was willing to adjust schedules as needed. His gentle, compassionate nature made it a special joy to be with him. He and his careful driver provided a safe, pristine, comfortable, air-conditioned car which was always at the ready in every location. Because he has been a guide on photographic tours of the area for many years, his knowledge of timing, lighting, best angles and composition was an unexpected and welcome bonus. An excellent guide and a wonderful human being!

" Three days of wonderful tours ''
We hired Sopheap for 3 days of tours in and around Siem Reap, after some emailing (with very prompt responses to my queries) and great suggestions from him. He is very friendly, has a great sense of humour, and his knowledge of the temples was quite astounding! As my husband is an avid photographer, Sopheap knew plenty of places for great shots. We opted one morning for dawn at Angkor Wat, which was magical, and because we had plenty of time, we also made effort to get out of town to see a few other temples that not everyone can get to. So glad we did that. Had the chance to chat to farmers in the field harvesting rice, and we (unintentionally) entertained them with our own efforts of cutting – we were NOT very good!
Sopheap was flexible in what we wanted to do, and was patient when we wanted to take a bit longer at some places. He even helped us out by taking us to the post office and translating when we wanted to send some items home.
We had a delightful experience of this part of the world, thanks to Sopheap and our driver, Pasit (spelling?).

We found Soheap through Trip Advisor and corresponded via email, he was prompt in replying and very flexible with any ideas we had. On the day of the tour I had been unwell the night before, he arranged a tuk tuk driver to collect me later than my husband so, I could join him out at Angkor Wat. Then I felt I needed to return to the hotel and he had me brought back straight away. The following day we traveled to Beng Mealea and Kampong Phluk, I would highly recommend using Soheap, he was a wealth of information and knowledge on a very broad range of topics and his English was excellent. I am very pleased with the service we received from him and would highly suggest you use this tour guide if you are in Seim Reap.

I came to Siem Reap for the weekend on a multi- week Asia business trip, and wanted to make the most of my limited time. Sopheap moved at the pace I wanted - moving fast between locations, but lingering to see the unique sites and take photos. He was adept at keeping away from the crowds to help me get some great shots. Highly recommend Sopheap for English-speaking visitors.

A friend recommended Sopheap ([email protected]), and he did not disappoint. Sopheap was quick to respond to emails as he put together an itinerary that was customized according to our requests. Even after arriving in Siem Reap, he was more than willing to make the necessary adjustments to attend to our needs. He knows so much about the history of Cambodia and all the right spots to take good photos. Not only is he a good tourist, but he is a genuinely nice guy, who goes out of his way to make the experience an unforgettable one. I would highly recommend him to anybody who is looking to have a great time in Siem Reap.

My sisters and I had a one day trip with Sopheap. Before we reached Cambodia, I have been communicating with him thru email on the planned itinerary. His replies are also prompt. Despite several changes we have, he took patience in replying and accommodated to our requests. His charges were reasonable also.
Throughout the day tour, he took great care of us and explained our many questions, telling us the history along the way. He will lead us to avoid the crowd. He is a friendly, approachable, , knowledgeable, patient guide.
I would highly recommend him to someone who wants to travel to Cambodia.

I went to Siem Reap for 4D/3N with a buddy and still having a holiday hangover from the experience. Amazing place with the temples and the closeness to nature.
I have to say the trip would not have been the same without our tour guide Sopheap Brem ([email protected]). We had him guide us for the 4-days. He suggests an itinerary for you if you're more of the unplanned traveler, and has good suggestions on the right time to visit each temple (especially to avoid the crowds or a sunburn!) A driver will pick you up in an airconditioned car and take your around while he does the show. Fantastic if you want the least amount of fuss and the most out of your time!
He also goes out of his way to make special requests. Took us around Siem Reap to find a place that sells beetles, crickets and frogs for snacks just because we wanted to try it out. He brought us around a local village market as well to get a feel of the real Siem Reap without the temples. A well of knowledge about Siem Reap's ancient and more recent history (ask about his family, Pol pot and the killing fields for as real a conversation as it will ever get). Good humor and fun to joke around with, he's a great guy to have around while touring Cambodia!

I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed the trip as much if it weren't for Sophiap, our amazing tour guide. He's very friendly and goes out of his way to help you out (like helping me purchase a local sim card so i could save on roaming costs) and checking up on you (he called and texted us days after our tour to see if we needed help with the rest of our stay). I highly recommend him! He'll tell you all about the history of the temples, show you the nicest places, and bring you to pretty good restaurants. The cold water and towels he gives you for free are a refreshing treat after a day out in the hot sun! check out my blog for more details :).

I visited Siem Reap from 06-09 Apr 2012 - we were a group of 3 women. Our tour guide, Sopheap Brem ([email protected]) took us around the sites for 2 days. Before our trip, I sent him an email and he replied right away. He was very accommodating and was able to come up with a detailed itinerary based on our schedule and even sent us helpful tips to use on our visit.
Sopheap was always on time to pick us up at our hotel. We hired him as our guide, along with a driver and private car. The car was a very clean CRV - chilled bottled water and cold towels were provided for throughout our 2 days of touring. He was not only very courteous, competent, kind and knowledgeable, but he also knew the best times to visit the various sites -- allowing us to avoid the massive tour groups, and enjoy the temples (almost) crowd-free!
If you're going to Siem Reap, i strongly suggest you drop Sopheap a line! He'll not only ensure that your trip is stress-free, but he'll take you to the best sites and fill you in on a lot of history and interesting stories along the way. We would definitely not have enjoyed Siem Reap nearly as much had it not been for Sopheap. I've already recommended him to several friends, and they've all had the same, awesome experience.

Brem Sopheap (our guide) was able to provide us (an Australian couple) with a wonderful time in our visit to the temples around Siem Reap. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the region and set out a flexible plan to allow us to spend three days getting a taste of the region. We saw the major sites as well as a few that he suggested were worth visiting that were off the regular tourist path. Sopheap's English is very good and he was able to accommodate our timing over the three full (very full) days we spent in Siem Reap.
In addition he recommended a number of places that we could visit in our evenings in town. The restaurants that he recommended were excellent.
